Mission Statement

The mission of St. Mary High School, serving Westfield and the surrounding communities for over 100 years, is to educate our students in a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum. Through a demanding academic program, students are challenged to reach their highest potential. Guided by the Gospel message and supported by parents, students are prepared in matters of faith and moral development. We value a caring and diverse community environment, inspiring students to mature into responsible young people.

Accreditation

Saint Mary High School is proud to announce that we have earned accreditation status from the New England Association of Schools & Colleges Commission on Independent Schools.

In order to earn accreditation, St. Mary High School met the high standards set by the NEASC. Under a set of regionally and nationally accepted standards, an Accreditation Visiting Committee of 7 professionals evaluated the school in areas such as curriculum, building features, finances, governance, staff and faculty, mission, and culture and climate.

The status of ‘Accreditation’ demonstrates to our students, parents and community that we provide a safe and enriched learning environment with highly qualified educators. In a letter from the NEASC, “the Commission commends the entire St. Mary’s community for modeling what was referred to in our meetings as an exemplary model of parish-centered Catholic Education. The Commission noted that the work of the administration and staff in marshalling the cooperation of the several constituencies of the school was pivotal in preserving the Christian family values that are the hallmark of St. Mary High School.”

Bullying Policy

The School is committed to providing all students with a safe learning environment that is free from Bullying. This commitment is an integral part of our comprehensive efforts to promote learning, and to prevent and eliminate all forms of Bullying and other harmful and disruptive behavior that can impede the learning process.

The School will take specific steps to create a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable populations in the School community, and provide all students with the skills, knowledge, and strategies to prevent or respond to Bullying.

We will not tolerate any unlawful or disruptive behavior, including any form of Bullying or Retaliation, in our School, on School Grounds, or in School-related activities. We will investigate promptly all reports and complaints of Bullying and Retaliation and take prompt action to end that behavior and restore Target's sense of safety. We will support this commitment in all aspects of our School community, including curricula, instructional programs, Staff development, extracurricular activities, and parent or guardian involvement.
